Built in 1859-1861. Was one of the biggest and most beautiful synagogues in Upper Silesia. Brick building in Neo-Romanesque Moorish style. Destroyed by the Nazis during Kristallnacht.
The community numbered 1,845 Jews prior to the war. When the Nazis came to power the Jewish community was persecuted. The Jews were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1942. Most did not survive.
